
Fiona has worked for Common Purpose for five and a half years.
She delivered leadership development courses in Sunderland and
Durham in 2006/2007, then moved to head up the merged Tyne and Wear
team, and pilot and launch the new Meridian course from
2007. Since the summer of 2010 Fiona has been responsible for
all Common Purpose courses across north east England and was
promoted to the national role of Operations Director for Common
Purpose UK in November 2011.
Fiona has a degree in English Literature and Language from the
University of Newcastle upon Tyne, and following that over 10 years
experience in corporate fundraising and development in the
not-for-profit sector. The latter 5 years of this was at
BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, Gateshead where she was part of
the team who established and opened the flagship arts project.
She particularly worked from 2001-2006 on corporate
fundraising, events, marketing and Development, and leading the
Development team.
Fiona lived in the west end of Newcastle for 7 years from
1999-2006 and was actively involved in the regeneration and
community initiatives in the area throughout that time. She sat as
an elected member, (Community Representative Director) on the
Newcastle Westgate New Deal for Communities Board for over two
years and also co-founded a 'direct action' residents group for her
immediate neighbourhood.
Fiona has also been a Board Director of Comrades of Children
Overseas for the past two years. COCO is an international
children's charity based in Newcastle, founded and established by
Steve Cram to improve the lives of children living in poverty
throughout the developing world. Fiona is also an Acorn Fund holder
and member of the Community Foundation serving Tyne and Wear and
Northumberland.
