This Friday, over 90 young people from fifteen schools across Glasgow will debate with some of Scotland's senior leaders on issues that are currently affecting our city at Common Purpose's annual Scottish youth leadership conference. Through leadership skills workshops with Young Scot and the NHS they will be given the opportunity to voice their opinions on issues including unemployment, spending cuts and crime.

They will be presenting their proposals on projects they would like to lead on at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum from 2pm and teachers, parents, guests and the general public are invited. Past campaigns have ranged from reducing anti-social behaviour to increasing activities for young people in local areas. Certificates will be awarded by Oli Norman, founder and Managing Director of Dada and Itison.

They have worked on their projects at a number of three day "Your Turn" leadership courses aimed at S3/S4 students rub ny not-for-profit leadership development organisation Common Purpose, which has been working with Glasgow's young people to equip them with the skills, confidence and connections they need to go out and produce real change in their schools and communities.

"The conference provides a unique opportunity to bring young leaders and cross sector decision makers together and gives them a platform to express their ideas and their vision for the future of the city," says Louise Nolan, Youth Courses Director for Common Purpose Scotland. "The Common Purpose Youth Leadership conference is the perfect opportunity to celebrate the success of our young leaders in our city and a great example of positive role models in our city."

Schools that are taking part in this year's Youth Conference are: Craigholme, Lochend Community High School, Knightswood, St Thomas Aquinas, Hillhead High School, Cleveden Secondary School, Drumchapel High School, Bellahouston Academy, Govan High School, Hillpark Secondary School, The Glasgow Academy, Hyndland Secondary, Rosshall Academy, Notre Damn, The High School of Glasgow and Hutecheson's Grammar School.

If you'd like to follow the conference on Twitter, @CommonPurpose will be using the hashtag #cpyt
